X-Fade #4

ethanp 2016-2017, 2016-2017 X-Fade Flight Simulator

How’s it going guys?

This is Ethan again with this week’s progress on the X-Fade Flight Simulator. Due to midterms and lab reports, we were not able to make as much progress as we wanted on the project. However, Mathew and I have met with the UCI eSports director, Mark Deppe, and he is willing to help us reach out to potential sponsors and assist us with obtaining an advanced computer that is compatible with Oculus Rift. We are very grateful and excited to be working closely with UCI eSports. For this week, we had our second meeting with our engineer advisor, David Reinkensmeyer and after some discussion, we have decided to add a new objective of making the flight simulator more user friendly. What we have in mind so far is to combine all the software to create one or two easy to use software that can not only run the game with a press of a button, but also easily adjust the sensitivity of pitch or row depending on the player’s preference. We will finish our primary objective before tackling this objective. This upcoming week we should have more progress done so stay tuned!

If you have any questions, suggestions, or want to donate, please contact me at ethanp@uci.edu Thanks for reading and happy building!

P.S. Above is what the project looks right now. As you can see, there are lots of room for improvement. During the winter break, we plan on building a comfortable pilot chair, adding wheels to the project to make it easier to transport, and doing some wire management to make it organized.
