The Winter Design Review is here! Our team leads and members came to showcase our project and support the other wonderful design projects here on campus. A few companies came around our table, about our Avionics team and the general progress we’ve made with our project. From this quarter, the Peer Review determined the top seven projects that would give a presentation to companies and attendees at the Winter Design Review. Our project was voted in 8th place and that is a great accomplish! Overall, the Winter Designs Review it’s a great experience to see everyone’s improvements since Fall 2016!
The last-minute accomplishments we made this week were the following:
Propulsion has finished calibrating the right side of the tilt rotor so both tilt rotors now function properly. The team leaves the finishing touches in wiring to Avionics.
Mechanical Design has finished the electronic housing design for Fabrication to build and assemble. Work is still being done on the new fuselage and now the team is performing the FEA using ANSYS, a different simulation program.
Fabrication has started building half of the electronic housing while working on the wings. They have done a wonderful job tackling all the tasks given to them this quarter.
Ground Station was preparing for the Design Review by updating their GUI.
They updated the GraphWidget again, redesigned the GUI control panel, integrated the FlightPlane load/save file function and modified the Leaflet mapping code for loading the flightpath. As said in the beginning of the quarter, the team has also built the Ground Station and Simulation projects to test how the GUI is working. Ground Station made goals for Spring 2017, which include creating a Mission Load/Save support function and Mission Recap. The team will focus on designing a better simulator, and creating the network code through their researching on MAVLink protocol. They will also continue their efforts to document their work and polish the project code.
Thank you everyone for following our progress this quarter!
