During week 7, we posted a picture with 3 different symmetrical pieces that we received. The three pieces were welded together this week to form the lever arm. Welding is a fabrication process of joining the two rods together. This is achieved through fusion, where the two metals are melted.
The next step is to send the welded piece for powder coating, to finish the aesthetics of the lever. Powder Coating is the process of electrostatically applying dry powder and curing it under heat. In this process, a “skin” type of layer forms.
Next week, we will assemble the braking mechanism with the lever and attach the lever to the wheelchair.
