UROP:
Through sharing our project at the UROP Symposium, we have learned the value of sharing my knowledge with others while also learning from those who are equally as passionate about STEM as we are.
FERCo:
We were planning our visit to FERCo (Fossil Energy Research Corporation) to use their blackbody source to calibrate the color sensor of our smartphone camera. We chose the black body as reliable color source to use to define the camera sensitivity. We will set the device at a constant temperature and take images with the constant ISO number and at different shutter speeds. We will repeat this experiment for 7 different temperature. This data will help us to find the best shutter speed for our experiments and also find the relation between temperature and intensity sensitivity for our CCD.
Photodiode:
We just ordered a photodiode to help us with calibrating the efficiency of CDD across the camera’s whole spectrum. The light from the light source will pass through the monochromator to then be measured by photodiode. Then the number of photons that are absorbed by the photodiode will be compared to the intensity that the CCD yielded from previous experiments. This will define the efficiency of the CCD’s cellphone camera.
