We met with our mentor, Terry Wang, this week to discuss possibilities of the redesign of our supplement dispenser. Over the weekend, our tasks were to do some research in order to solve this problem. This Monday, Terry was able to brainstorm with us and we came to a design that is feasible. What we came up with was to incorporate the idea of the peristaltic pump as an air generator. This air generator would pierce the cartridge and allow air to flow through it. Then the air would force the fluid down the cartridge through a spout at the bottom. We would try to control the air flow with various valves attached to the pump. It is currently the beginning of week 9 and need to push through this design as much as possible. Our hopes are to properly dispense the supplement in accurate amounts while following the criteria our sponsors gave us. Attached is a picture of the peristaltic pump that we will attempt to use to pump air through the cartridge.
