Wirst Exo Week #5

phungnh 2016-2017 Wrist Exoskeleton

Hi everyone, for this week, our wrist exo team met up with Dr. Reinkensmeyer to talk about our ideas for our design and to see if the design was feasible. We came up with a couple of ideas such as using rings and springs to pull the hands back. Dr. Reinkensmeyer then showed us a study a graduate student did and how he wanted to make the machine he made into a smaller one where it can be portable. The image is how the graduate student’s machine looks like. We are trying to design something for stroke patients to use where the machine is not as big. The machine operates by using a combination of linear springs, pulleys, and torsional springs to create resonance to amplify the movements of the patient. We are further looking into the old design and seeing how we can edit out design to operate the same as the old one. We also started to look at 3D printing manufacturer for our parts to be 3D printed.
