The purpose of this project is to develop a soft exosuit that passively aids the upper body’s musculoskeletal movement in the shoulder complex and elbow joint. Applications for this device can be beneficial in a wide array of fields. These include patient rehabilitation, soldiers and firefighters’ fatigue reduction, industry workers’ productivity, or any other load-carrying applications. Although various assistive devices can be used as substitutes, these devices are often unethically expensive and their manufacturing processes can be both complex and tedious. Consequently, these devices are often only seen in specialized government sections or expensive rehabilitative facilities. Our goal is to develop a fully functional and highly maneuverable exosuit which can be manufactured easily and affordably for use among the general public. The project will incorporate aspects of mechanical, electrical, computer, and biomedical engineering to create this exosuit.
