This week, we performed a simulation analysis on the lever arm. The goal was to ensure that the brake caliper was not mounted at a location where it would deflect far enough and cause the brakes to lock up. The device was given a simulated 200 N load in the transverse direction at the handle. The handle deflected 5 mm and the mounting surface for the brake calipers deflected 2mm. Our results show that the part does not experience a stress larger than the yield strength, thus the part does not fail. The displacements calculated in this study are what we believe to experience during normal usage.
