After this break, the Electric Racecar team is in full throttle as we finalize the design for our battery box design. We spent all last quarter, constantly designing and redesigning the box while also following the extensive number of rules in the FSAE rulebook.
The exterior and interior walls are made from steel that are then lined with fireproof and electrical resistant material. The final product contains fireproof 3D printed parts such as the maintenance plugs, fuse bracket insulation, and AIRs bracket insulation. This allowed the team to be as creative and intuitive as possible without the restrictions of having to design around a part.
This quarter, we are starting the manufacturing process as soon as our designs are approved by the FSAE officials. All the walls will be professionally cut by a company called Aquajet, but everything else will be manufactured by our team members. We are excited to finally exit the design phase into the manufacturing phase where we can see our designs come to life.
