The Mad Queen

Admin Project Learning

Greetings mortals!

You have stumbled upon the highly classified blog of the Wing Design Team Lead a.k.a. The Mad Queen. Reading further is clearly not for the faint hearted. You might accidentally stumble upon the answer to life itself in the depths of my thoughts. Be warned!

At the start of this project, I had no idea how to design a wing. Sure, you learn all the mathematics related to wings and empennage in class, but actually designing a wing and empennage to meet the design parameters set by our project lead (who keeps changing things on me just to watch me lose my mind.) is quite the walk in Aldrich Park in the dark (minus the raccoons).

But as all of us college students very well know, the internet is a wonderful place. My team and I have read plenty of PDFs, forum posts, textbook excerpts, and lectures from different universities that were extremely useful in helping us determine which of the design parameters should be prioritized, how to design a wing, how to optimize its performance etc. We almost made a wing that would have given us a 100lb lift at cruise speed! (Next mission: make a new drone to find the old drone). It was also quite interesting to read a whole 5 page forum thread about the advantages and disadvantages of a V-Tail configuration only to find out the next day that we’re not even making a V-Tail…Joy.

All rambles aside, I could not have done this project without my lovely team working tirelessly day and night. They completed all the work I assigned to them in a timely manner and weren’t afraid to point out any mistakes on my part (expect a knighthood and ice cream y’all). They certainly made my first experience as a team lead ten times more enjoyable. Thank you for all your hard work. Love you all! Peace 🙂

Houston, this is the Mad Queen signing off.
