Feel the Breeze?

Casa Del Sol is created to adapt to the Southern California weather, drawing its innovation from the California state flower, the golden poppy. Just like a live flower, Casa Del Sol can automatically open its windows as if it were alive. Window actuators assist in passive cooling where it can open when the temperature sensors have detected uncomfortable temperature levels without having to do it manually and it is electronically motored. Essentially, the automated windows are connected to temperature sensors that will open and close throughout the day depending on how the weather and sun affect the home. Window actuators will interact to adapt to residents’ needs. Residents can monitor the windows automated settings by energy management control system, maintaining the right temperature to make residents more comfortable.

This is innovative by reducing the usage of energy rather than having an air conditioner that will consume vast amount of energy. It can open and close on its own without the residents having to manually do it themselves. Moreover, when the automated windows are not sufficient in cooling, it would automatically close and the energy management control system would turn on the HVAC system. The energy management control system that promotes sustainability by using free cooling and saving energy. Window actuators will reduce the power bill and produce natural refreshing air to the residents’ comfort.

Natural ventilation is perfect in the region of Orange County. The climate can get pretty high at times but because of the ocean close by the natural chill breeze allows for ideal temperatures inside our home. Sensor operated windows aid in natural cooling throughout the home that is normally experienced solely outdoors. Thus having natural cooling significantly lowers the cost of living since it would use less air conditioning and more cool breeze.
