AquaLoco: Week 7 Updates

KTLUU1 2016-2017 Efficiency of Aquatic Locomotion Using Flippers

For the past week, Alex, Damian, and Timothy have been epoxying the tank. It has taken some time to apply because we have to wait a couple of hours before we reapply to thicken the epoxy layer.

Also, I am looking into shirt designs for our team. I have a couple of simple designs, but I hope to finalize it by the end of this week.

We will be using an Arduino board to move both fins and motors. The Arduino board is a developmental board that is great for prototyping because we do not need any additional hardware. Based on our teams ability, we could use two different programs to control the board. One is Arduino IDE and the other is Labview. Arduino IDE is a C++ based program that commands the developmental board. Labview is a visual programming language from National Instruments and it is a “G” (graphical) based program. I have started the code to move our fins and motors in the Arduino IDE software. This week, Alex will be looking at coding in Labview. We hope to finalize our code by the end of next week.
