In order to supplement existing facilities, the School of Engineering at UC Irvine has established a partnership with the Urban Workshop. This relationship provides an opportunity for select students who are working on student projects to utilize Urban Workshop (UW) facilities and to participate in the training offered at UW.

Urban Workshop Membership Process and Policy
- Students interested in obtaining a membership at UW must complete the form below.
- If more than one student from a particular student group is using UW for the same purpose, the project lead must also email Professor Walter (m.walter@uci.edu) and justify why more than one student needs UW for the particular task at hand.
- Since the School pays a monthly membership and a required equipment orientation class for each registered student, every student who registers for UW membership must make adequate use of UW. The School has the right to revoke a student’s membership if the student does not use UW more than 5 times each month of their membership. UW will be reporting all usage statistics to the School.
- Memberships are calendar month-to-month; it is fine for students to skip a calendar month between uses.
- Once approved by Professor Walter, students go directly to UW and show their Student ID to UW staff. UW will check that the student is an active HSSoE Engineering student and on the approved UCI students list.
- Students receive one free class. All other classes must be paid for by the student or the student’s project.
- Students must abide by all UW rules and regulations.
- Student memberships will be revoked if UW staff inform the HSSoE of any students’ misuse of the UW.
