The goal of this project is to create an autonomous UAV system that can deployed by a lone field operative and be controlled from a software base station. The UAV must be able to execute a mission profile programmed by the operative which entails waypoint navigation, vertical take-off and landing, as well as perching and surveillance. The objectives that support this goal are as follows:
1. VTOL capable flight platform
2. Ground station software
3. Wireless communication link for mission monitoring
4. Obstacle avoidance system
5. Aircraft stability augmentation system
6. Avionics hardware/software to enable autonomous navigation
7. Module for post-mission data analysis
