Week 6 – Project X

snmoreno 2016-2017 Integrated Pet Feeder for Health and Wellness

SS2 and SS4:
We have successfully integrated Subsystem 2 (supplement dispensing) into Subsystem 4 (main controls). We decided to remove the the 4 solenoids from subsystem 2 and introduce 4 air pumps instead, for two reasons. First, it would be more expensive to manufacture the prototype including 4 solenoids, and it is also more complicated to program and control the voltage. Instead we will be controlling the voltage going to the pumps and based on time we will determine how much air is needed to push the piston inside the cartridge down in order to dispense 1 mL or 2 mL at at a time. The main system contains the code that controls how much is being dispensed according to pet’s weight.

SS3: CAD design has been renovated and the new look has been developed to house all electronics. The dispensing mechanism has been slightly adjusted for a more symmetrical shape and finalized.

SS1 and SS4:
Due to failure of some of the electrical components we haven’t been able to merge Subsystem 1 (food dispensing) and Subsystem 4 (main controls). Also, 3D printing for motor attachments are still pending. We hope to keep working on this issues and have it completed by the end of week seven.
