Test Station Completed

Quick FUN fact before I state what we did as a team for the week. Researchers in the UK lead by Nobel Laureate Andre Geim are working on a super thin, 1 atom thick size membrane made out of graphene which will extract hydrogen from the humid air. The membrane does not extract a large amount of hydrogen but since it was a recent discovery, they are hoping with more research it can lead to something useable for cars in the future.

For the Fuel Cell Battery Project, we are divided in two teams, the fuel cell team and the electrolyzer team. The electrolyzer team is in charge in designing our own cell that would intake water and through the process of electrolysis we would obtain two gasses, oxygen and hydrogen. With the hydrogen gas being used to power the fuel cell.

For the week of February 9-16 we remade our test station for any electrolyzer, to either test the commercial one we have, or the Hydrogen Separator Cell we intend to make soon. Also we are in the process in finalizing our design for our Separator Cell which includes the plates, end plates, tubes, and the membranes that will go between the plates, and the solution to go along with the water. We are continuing to do more research as how what the best design will allow us to obtain the amount of hydrogen we need to operate the fuel cell at optimal.
