The Solar Plane project was conceived over the summer by the project leads. Our main goal is to design an aircraft powered purely by the sun to maintain continuous flight. Our main design challenge will be to maintain steady level flight through the night.
Beginning week 0 and week 1 we were on the search for advisors and defining the scope of our project. We have finished our preliminary budget, preliminary timeline for the year, and began writing UROP proposals. Starting this week we will be searching for other means for funding such as green initiative grants and to companies for funding. Preliminary designs have begun with the flight controller and structure for the aircraft.
