Moving Forward

Admin Project Learning

The UCI SAT II team is focused primarily on designing all the components and creating CAD models for all the components. During week 4 the teams where created, having a more structured composition than before. Team Leads are still being confirmed, a new attribute that the new members are learning is the use of trello. The team has also learned that there are paints in which spacecraft vehicles use in order to withstand vibrational loadings and not loosening or failing during the vibrational loads. The only verified designs and concepts are the circuitry, camera lens, casing for the satellite using aluminum 6061. The goal for the CAD team is to have all the components modeled by week 5. The goal of the power team is to have chosen 3 rechargeable batteries that can be used for testing in a vacuum for durability and leakage. The solar panel team’s goal for week 5 is to have the final design approved and a bill of materials made to begin testing of chosen panels. This week the entire team is also focusing on creating a LinkedIn profile and obtaining professional pictures for the website. Laia, the graduate student in charge of the electro-spray thrusters team, is now able to use the vacuum chamber to test her thrusters. The design team is also going to ask David Lee to guide us in the use of the CNC machine. Also the team members that were a part of the project since the beginning of the year were asked to provide as technical summary of their work that can be used for the website.
